Overwatch League: which teams qualify for the Play-Offs?

The Countdown Cup is now over and it’s now time for the teams to get down to business, namely the Play-Offs. Some teams were able to qualify, while for others the adventure ends here. So which teams qualify? We tell you everything.

With the Countdown Cup now over, it’s time to find out which teams will be competing in the 2022 Overwatch League Playoffs. Without further ado, here are the 12 teams selected to try to win the title of Grand Champion.

Which teams qualify for the Play-Offs?

Previously, there were 20 teams competing in the Overwatch League. Now, there are only 12 teams left, divided between the West and East regions.

In the West region, the remaining teams are:

  • London Spitfire
  • Dallas Fuel
  • Toronto Defiant
  • Altanta Reign
  • San Francisco Shock
  • Houston Outlaws
  • Los Angeles Gladiators
  • Florida Mayhem

Six teams have qualified based on their league points at the end of the regular season, while others have earned that spot based on their performance in the Countdown Cup. The Toronto Defiant and the Florida Mayhem are the stars of this competition which took place from October 14 to 15 and from October 21 to 22.

Then for the East region, only the following teams continue the competition:

  • Philadelphia Fusion
  • Hangzhou Spark
  • Seoul Dynasty
  • Shanghai Dragons

For the eastern region, three teams qualified on the basis of their league points, while Hangzhou Spark were able to secure a place thanks to the Countdown Cup which took place on October 14 and 15.

Once the 12 playoff teams have been selected, they will be seeded into a double-elimination bracket based on their amount of league points. LAN games will be broadcast from the Anaheim Convention Center starting October 30. To experience this event in person, you can attend the conclusion of the playoffs on November 3 and 4, which will end with an epic final! The top-ranked teams in each region will enjoy significant benefits in the post-season, including byes, the choice of their opponent in the first round of the playoffs, as well as the choice of the first map.
