We had no idea that his presentation would be organized so quickly. A few days after publishing a first photograph captured using the P60 Pro, the high-end smartphone whose announcement was still awaited, the CEO of Huawei reveals the date on which the device will indeed be formalized. It will therefore be for March 23 at 2:30 p.m. (local time, or 6:30 a.m. in France), in Shanghai, and the smartphone will not be alone.
If the P60 Pro is expected as the flagship of the brand, the device will probably not be alone, since Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei, mentions on the Weibo social network a “P60 series”, which could therefore include a P60 classic, a little more modest in terms of characteristics. One thing is certain, however: the P60 Pro will be accompanied by the Mate X3. It will be a folding smartphone, succeeding the Mate X2 – and not the Mate Xs 2 which we tested in the fall of 2022. If it follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, its folding screen will be placed at inside the smartphone when it is closed, and not on its external part, as is the case with the Mate Xs 2. In addition to these smartphones, Huawei indicates that “many new products”we imagine connected watches or headphones, will also be formalized.
Only the technical sheet of the P60 Pro has so far been the subject of precise information leaks. We are talking about 50 megapixel main sensors supported by the algorithms of the Chinese giant – which is no longer accompanied by Leica, now a partner of Xiaomi – whose night performance is expected at the turn. We also mention the integration of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, but in a version only compatible with 4G, Huawei being deprived of 5G modems. Remember that if the Chinese brand always seems inclined to market its most high-end terminals on the Old Continent, it takes its time before launching; it took almost six months to wait between the Chinese announcement of the P50 Pro and its availability in France. So let’s hope that the firm with the red petals presses the pace further this year.
