Seven velvet paws, perhaps even more kittens, are said to have fallen victim to a trigger-happy hunter in the Tulln district. An animal rights activist files a complaint.
“Now a child somewhere is probably crying for their little cuddly friend,” says a courageous cat lover. It was also she who found the beautiful tabby tomcat in a meadow in the village of Weinzierl and recoiled in horror. Clear evidence of an illegal killing: a gunshot wound and a bullet in the bloody fur, from which the unfortunate pet died in agony. She immediately took the velvet paw murderer’s victim to the police and filed a report. When making the refund, the woman gave the specific name of the suspect, for whom the presumption of innocence naturally applies. Seven cats have already disappeared from town without a trace. The suspected animal shooter is known, notorious and feared among the population. The huntsman, who obviously does not deserve this name, is said to have been observed again and again – illegally in the middle of the town – targeting his helpless victims and killing them in cold blood. There is an eyewitness report on the last case of animal cruelty. Accordingly, the “wild shooter” is said to have driven up in an off-road vehicle and rolled down the window. Minutes later, a loud bang was heard in the dusk. The shot in the Friday morning hours was likely to have been immediately fatal. According to “decent” hunters, such use of weapons is strictly forbidden in Lower Austria because the distance to the houses in the village was legally too short. Such a merciless hunt does not correspond to hunting ethics, other green coats assure the investigative “Krone” reporters. The reporter expects – should the suspicion be confirmed – appropriate intervention and the planned sanctions from the Lower Austrian state hunting association: “This is not a trivial offense !” In any case, the summons of the suspect and his statement at the responsible post in Atzenbrugg are eagerly awaited in the coming days.
