JERUSALEM, July 2 (Reuters) – The Palestinian Authority is to hand over to US authorities for examination the bullet that killed Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh last May during an operation by Israeli forces in the West Bank , Attorney General Akram al-Khatib told Reuters on Saturday.
“We agreed to pass the bullet to the Americans to examine,” he said without further details.
The UN concluded in June following an investigation that Shireen Abu Akleh had been killed on May 11 by Israeli security forces and not by “indiscriminate” Palestinian fire as initially claimed by the Israeli authorities, who did not open a judicial inquiry.
