Paris: disputed, the real estate project on rue Erlanger has been validated by elected officials

The real estate project, which plans to build social housing, a social residence, a school and a nursery instead of an elementary school rue Erlanger, in the 16th, has just been validated this Tuesday, February 8 by Parisian elected officials gathered at the Council of Paris. The Parisian executive having indeed agreed to take into account the demands of the right.

Located at the corner of boulevard Exelmans and rue Erlanger, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, this real estate project is to replace an elementary school dating from the 1950s, considered dilapidated and closed for months. Instead, a complex – supported by the social landlord Paris Habitat – should see the light of day by the summer of 2025. It will then host “a comprehensive school with 12 classes, a program of 48 social housing units, a social residence of 25 places, a nursery of 44 cradles, an associative room and a parking lot”, can we read in the deliberation voted on Tuesday.

A slightly modified project

A positive outcome for this project which “caused debate in its initial version and sometimes controversy”, thus indicated Ian Brossat, the deputy mayor of Paris in charge of housing, who was pleased to have found with Francis Szpiner, the mayor of the 16th arrondissement, common ground around a “slightly modified” project. An agreement reached around the question of greening for this project which will include 850 m2 of green surface instead of 437 m2, on the lowering of the main building from 9 to 7 floors or on obtaining that the social residence is intended for women who are victims of violence.

Among the other demands of the right in this dossier are that the schoolyard become a so-called “Oasis” courtyard, “with qualitative vegetation and real ecological continuity”, or even that “as many trees be replanted as there are currently some on the plot” and above all that a meeting be organized with the APQE association and Paris Habitat before finalizing and submitting the application for a building permit – scheduled for March 2022 – so that the feasibility of the proposed amendments can be studied. by local residents.

“The work carried out with the town hall of the 16th has allowed us to make good progress”, rejoiced Ian Brossat, when Francis Spziner spoke for his part of an “exemplary fight” so that the demands of the residents are heard. “It’s a great achievement that we are actually able to move forward in a quasi-consensual way on this issue of social housing and more particularly on that of the rebalancing of social housing”, finally welcomed in conclusion the deputy housing, who said he was looking forward to 2025 to inaugurate the project.
