Until February 6, a new festival entirely dedicated to video games and video game art is taking place at the Forum des Images: > Ready > Players.
“The Forum des images, a film institution, has sidesteps in its skin and a taste for hybridizations in its heart”, introduces Fabien Gaffez, director of programs at the Forum des images. With “the integration of the TUMO Paris 1 school, the development of the festival NewImages or the creation of Bederama», it is not hard to see that the place has taken a pop turn in recent years. But if the video game was already integrated into the programs, it is now an event in its own right dedicated to it.
Giant tournaments, podcast, live demonstration…
At the center of the festival: the players. “The gaming experience, rather than industry fairs,” sums up the program director. The Forum des images is therefore transformed into a giant games room, and will offer “major tournaments open to all, a Game Concert, creators revealing their manufacturing secrets to us, the podcast Silence we play!, preview game demonstrations, meetings around strong topics, videographers, streamers and star players, the cinephile imagination of cult licenses, a TUMO Game Jam, retrogaming spaces, interactive installations , and a guest of honour, Jehanne Rousseau (director of the Spiders studio)”. Just that.
