Pas-de-Calais: the 12-year-old child kidnapped near Lens found safe and sound, his father in police custody

DISAPPEARANCE – The kidnapping alert device was triggered at 5.45am this Saturday morning after the kidnapping of little Hamza near Lens (Pas-de-Calais) on Friday evening. He was lifted at 10 a.m. after the child was found.

The kidnapping alert to find Hamza, 12, started early Saturday morning, was lifted at 10 a.m. The child was found safe and sound at the home of his aunt, the suspect’s sister, according to a press release. “His father was taken into custody by the services of the North Judicial Police Directorate. Investigations are continuing”, say the authorities. The investigation was entrusted to the Lille judicial police.

A kidnapping alert had been triggered by the Interior Ministry to find “Hamza, boy, 12 years old, 1.50 m, dark complexion, brown with black eyes, dressed in gray pajamas, a blue sweater and a black coat”, kidnapped in Fouquières-lès-Lens on Friday evening. The child had been placed with a maternal assistant as part of the separation from his parents, by decision of a children’s judge on Tuesday, the Béthune prosecutor’s office and a police source said.

Several police sources claimed the boy had been abducted “without any violence”, as the nursery assistant confirmed to the press on Saturday. “It happened very, very quickly I didn’t have time to do anything “, she said, adding that the kidnapper had not been “aggressive” and had “not say a word”. According to our information, the boy would have jumped for joy in his arms and then left with him of his own free will.

The authorities feared that Hamza’s father would seek to leave the country with his child. According to the prosecution, it had been “intercepted at the airport” a few weeks ago “while he was preparing to flee outside the European Union, despite a measure prohibiting him from taking his son abroad”.

This 40-year-old man, 1.73 m, 110 kg and with a shaved head, was presented by the prosecution as “determined in its project and potentially dangerous”.
