Pasta without carbohydrates: pasta alternatives that taste good

Kajnok: What can slim pasta do?

Admittedly, they look like rice noodles. But they are much nicer to our figure: Because the pasta called "Kajnok" does not contain any carbohydrates or fat and only provides eight kilocalories per 100 grams. The secret: This slim pasta is made from the flour of the konjac root and from water. That may sound strange, but it tastes really great and is in no way inferior in taste to a wheat noodle. In addition, the slim pasta is gluten-free and vegan.

The konjac root comes from Asia and consists of at least half of glucomannan, a starch-like substance that can be processed into flour. Glucomannan can absorb a lot of water and makes you feel full. As is well known, this also helps you lose weight. The ready-made noodles first appeared on the market about a year ago. In the meantime the recipe has been revised, the slightly fishy aftertaste has disappeared. Incidentally, the preparation is super simple: open the package and heat the contents – done.

Low carb: how good are soy spaghetti and konjac noodles?

Soy spaghetti consist of 100 percent soy, which is why the protein content is a high 45 grams per 100 grams. However, the carbohydrates have shrunk to a minimum. For comparison: with conventional pasta, the carbohydrate content is 70 grams, in soy spaghetti only 35 grams. A good low-carb dish that is prepared like normal pasta, by the way. Small drawback: The noodle alternative should have little flavor, but should accept the taste of the sauce well. A recipe with pesto would therefore be ideal.

Konjac noodles (also called shirataki noodles) are made from the konjac root, like the kajnok slim pasta. They are ideal for losing weight and for a low-carbohydrate diet, as they only have eight calories per 100 grams. That is less than a cucumber owns (12 calories per 100 grams). In addition, konjac noodles are fat-free, gluten-free, basic and without usable carbohydrates. Preparation: Also in hot water. However, the consistency of the pasta alternative should take some getting used to.
