Patrick Fiori: he looks back on his meeting with Dalida: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

It was time for confessions Saturday March 9, 2024 on the set of What a time! Patrick Fiori was one of the guests. While he let himself go tell some memories on his Armenian origins, he also spoke of his meeting with the singer Dalida. He was only 18 years old then. “She welcomed me into her dressing room to tell me very nice things” he said. “My father was already a temple of humidity because when he saw her, he melted completely” he added. This is not the first time that he has mentioned this meeting, but it is a memory that still moves him as much. “She looks at me with great tenderness in her eyes, she sits down, she says to me: ‘Come and sit down.’ And she said to me: ‘I hope you meet artists who will make songs that match your voice and your kindness and it won’t be long.'” Words that the singer will remember all his life.

Words that announced the future?

Dalida, e-reader of the future? In any case, shortly after hearing these words, Patrick Fiori began to be known to the general public. He represented France at Eurovision in 1993, and finished fourth in the standings. The singer then told an anecdote about Dalida’s brother: Orlando. Indeed, at the start of his career, he wished to be represented by the latter, who was his sister’s producer. Unfortunately, Orlando refused. “I don’t blame Orlando. He didn’t release me. He took the time to receive me, but he wasn’t interested” he explained. While his latest album, titled The song is free, was released in February 2024, it evokes the need for “stay in your place” as a singer with a powerful voice. “You have to keep your place” he explains, “music is cyclical. It is in a cycle where we feel that […] you have to stay at a distance, there’s no point in forcing your hand […] When I see that the field is clear, we simply come back.” A return which brought great joy to his fans.
