Lamar Jackson
He receives a special award and makes history
Patrick Mahomes prevailed over Lamar Jackson in the final game of the playoffs. Nevertheless, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback has now been honored with a special award that the Chiefs star received last year.
Lamar Jackson wins MVP – and makes history
Lamar Jackson was presented with the prestigious award at the NFL Honors Gala held at the Resorts World Theater in Las Vegas on February 8, 2024, which was attended by Prince Harry, 39. The Ravens quarterback was already named MVP in 2019, which is why the current award is historic: This makes the 27-year-old the youngest player to be voted Most Valuable Player twice.
The quarterback gave a short acceptance speech and thanked his team and coach John Harbaugh, 61. “This award is for the whole team. And I want to thank my family at home. I wish you a nice evening and that’s it, guys,” said the NFL star before leaving the stage.
Patrick Mahomes held the previous record
With his victory, Lamar Jackson dethrones the Chiefs quarterback. Because he was the previous record holder and was named MVP in 2018 and last year. Mahomes was also 27 at the NFL Honors 2023 – but he is around nine months older than his colleague from Baltimore, which means he now has to give up his rank.
At last year’s National Football League awards ceremony, Patrick Mahomes accepted the award with a pre-recorded video in which he addressed touching words to his wife Brittany Mahomes, 28, and their two children. “To my wife Brittany, my little girl Sterling and my son Bronze: This crazy life we lead means nothing without you, you keep me balanced and make me appreciate every single day,” he says in the clip, which appears on was shared to the NFL’s official Instagram account.
