New twist in the Patrick Poivre d’Arvor affair. The journalist and former star presenter of TF1’s news has been facing serious charges since the start of 2021. Florence Porcel had filed a complaint against him for rape that year, but it was dismissed. She is the first to speak up and speak out in this matter. She accuses Patrick Poivre d’Arvor of rape twice, in 2004 then in 2009, in his TF1 office. Monday December 18, 2023, the case has just experienced a new twist. According to information from BFMTV revealed the next day, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor was indicted in connection with the rape incidents dating from 2009. The journalist allegedly forced oral sex on the young woman. A decision which goes against the prosecution, which had recommended not to indict the 76-year-old journalist. The journalist’s lawyers spoke through a press release reported on X: “Mr. Poivre d’Arvor firmly contests the facts alleged by Mrs. Porcel as he has done since the first day and has produced numerous material elements contradicting them.

Patrick Poivre d’Arvor denies the facts

A new twist in the investigation which risks upsetting everything. The prosecutor Catherine Denis, who dismissed the first complaint, explained regarding the forced fellatio that the facts could not be proven. “These facts […] cannot characterize the crime of rape to the extent that there is no evidence to confirm the statements of one or the other concerning the existence of this scene. As a reminder, Florence Porcel is not the only woman to have denounced the actions of the former TF1 star. On May 9, 2022, around twenty women testified in Mediapart, with their faces uncovered or not, concerning the sexual assaults or rapes they allegedly suffered at the hands of Patrick Poivre d’Arvor. In total, 26 of them spoke out, 16 filed complaints, seven denounced rapes, according to the #MeToo movement.
