He also went further by talking about the morbid thoughts that can assail him sometimes.
If a champion of 12 shots of noon Paul El Kharrat made a strong impression on the show. 153 days of participation and 700,000 euros in winnings recorded, the young man achieved an unforgettable stint in Jean-Luc Reichmann’s program. A journey which also highlighted a neurological disorder from which he has suffered since childhood: autism.
It’s in the show presented by Isabelle Ithurburu, 50′ Inside on TF1 this Saturday, October 7, 2023, that Paul El Kharrat spoke in complete transparency about the Asperger syndrome from which he suffers, discovered at the age of 16. A syndrome which has different levels and which can lead to some behavioral problems as the young man confides to the facilitator: “You know since I was 3 years old, people have wondered what’s going on in my head. We wonder why I have these particularities, why I behave and speak like that“. The one who once fell out with Jean-Luc Reichmann explained that autism was a syndrome that was quite heavy to bear and that despite the difficulty he always kept a smile to hide his inner pain: “To avoid showing too much that I’m in pain and not so happy“.

It was at the age of 16 that Paul El Kharrat finally put a word on this difference which he had suffered from since the age of 3. He can finally put his finger on it and talk more deeply about his suffering: “Today, we can be doing very well, everything can go well professionally, emotionally, personally, whatever you want… And then, the next day, something goes wrong and everything falls apart. It feels like nothing is going right anymore.»
Very aware of his illness, the 24-year-old continues his explanation: “I know it can come back, but I’m doing everything to prevent it. I know that there are medicinal substances that allow me to stabilize my mood and reduce my anxiety and sometimes that is not enough…» A problematic situation which in some cases gave rise to morbid, even suicidal, thoughts in the young man: “I get stuck on things and it ruins my life a little while in the end there are a lot of things that are beautiful and worth living.» He then goes even further in his confidences: “Sometimes you don’t even want to live anymore. You have morbid and suicidal impulses, you suffer so much that you no longer know how to get through it because you know it will come back…»
