Hollywood star Paul Rudd encountered far more difficulties than he was used to while training for the new “Ant-Man” film.

Hollywood star Paul Rudd (53) has revealed that he had to work quite hard for “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”. It was “much harder” to get in shape for the new Ant-Man movie than the previous ones, he said “Men’s Health”. Rudd is featured on the cover of Fitness Magazine in March 2023.

Rudd: “I was irritated and insecure”

“I’ve worked really hard to get back in shape for Quantumania,” he explained. “I had lost more weight than I had in the past. All of a sudden, my clothes didn’t fit. And I was like, ‘God, this sucks. I can’t even wear these pants.'”

“So I said to myself, ‘Well, I might as well just eat some of these cookies. I was irritable and insecure. I just wasn’t in a good mood. I really beat myself up,'” he added. However, his determination and work ethic would have helped him achieve his ideal figure.

The golden mean

“I can be very focused when I have a goal. When I’m shooting one of these films and I know I have to shoot a shirtless scene in four months, I’m pretty focused,” he explained.

“I’m also trying to find the happy medium. I could train hard and eat the perfect diet and still look worse than most other Avengers,” Rudd joked.

Noting that he’s better looking than most men in their 50s, he said, “I see some things that people politely don’t acknowledge. Anyway, I’m glad people aren’t saying the opposite. Like, ‘God, he looks a hundred years old!’ That’s flattering.”

Was the training free?

Despite all the training, the only scene where he is shirtless was “edited” from “Ant-Man,” Rudd revealed. So was all the hard training for nothing? “On the one hand, I was upset because I had worked so hard for a year. On the other hand, if I had to see myself shirtless in a Marvel movie, I would want to make fun of it in every possible way,” said the 53-year-old. After all, the film is long and the scene “is not absolutely necessary”.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on February 15, 2023.
