Peace, youth, women’s rights… What to remember from Yannick Jadot’s meeting in Paris

The environmental candidate Yannick Jadot held a new campaign meeting live from the Zenith in Paris this Sunday, March 27.

To begin his speech, Yannick Jadot felt that “rarely has such a choice been so decisive” during an election.

Based on scientific reports, the representative of EELV judged that “global warming and the collapse of biodiversity” were only the sign of a “catastrophe which is approaching” and of which “we already know the foretaste”. “It is the survival of our humanity that is at stake today,” he added.

A fight for peace and climate

Advocating a pacifist discourse, Yannick Jadot hailed “the admirable resistance of the Ukrainian people”, assuring that the oppressed citizens were “welcome to our country, where a great surge of solidarity is expressed”.

The MEP later praised the constancy of his “political strength vis-à-vis Vladimir Putin, as it has always been vis-à-vis all dictatorships”.

Faced with a society and a world that he deemed more and more “individualistic”, Yannick Jadot wished to affirm his “faith in collective action”.

In front of the Zenith of Paris, the latter indicated that he wanted to put himself “at the service of the people, of the fight, for peace, for the climate and social justice”.

A message to the youth

After diagnosing a “ruthless” world, Yannick Jadot addressed the young people of France. “Don’t let anyone decide for you. Do not miss this historic opportunity to change your lives,” he told them.

“Come shake us up with your desires, your anger and your enthusiasm. Commit to the climate, against racism and discrimination, against violence against women, against animal abuse,” he added.

“Outside the lobbies”

Yannick Jadot declared that he wanted to wage war on several lobbies: “The lobby of for-profit EHPADs, the lobby of car manufacturers, the lobby of mining companies, the lobby of hunters, the lobby of manufacturers who fight the ban on the most dangerous molecules and refuse safety standards, fossil fuel and nuclear lobby”, he quoted in his list.

Wishing to found an “Ecological Republic”, the candidate promised as soon as he came to power, the establishment of a “great law of separation of lobbies and the State”.

Women’s rights, a national cause

Recalling that more than 600 feminicides had been perpetrated under Emmanuel Macron’s five-year term, Yannick Jadot promised to deploy one billion euros “to educate, train and protect, with police and specialized justice”.
