The pension reform was adopted Monday morning in the Council of Ministers. Place now in Parliament. The text will be examined in the Social Affairs Committee from Monday, in a week, before being debated in public session in the hemicycle from February 6. In the meantime, the executive wants at all costs to avoid losing votes along the way.

“No voice must be missing!” : this is the watchword that circulates in the ranks of Macronists. The deputies of the majority are called to unite to support the pension reform, adopted this Monday morning in the Council of Ministers. Because some parliamentarians, from the left wing of the presidential party, are beginning to doubt or even oppose this reform. This is the case, for example, of the Renaissance deputy from Hérault, Patrick Vignal. This indicates that as it stands, it will not vote for the text.

Restore order in his camp

Problematic in the context of the relative majority and while on the right, certain Republicans holding a social line, also express their reluctance. Aurélien Pradié, vice-president of the party and deputy of Lot, still sets conditions for his vote. In particular, he calls for a contribution period of 43 years, and not 44 years, for those who started working before the age of 21.

Elisabeth Borne is therefore trying to bring order to her own camp. This Monday, the Prime Minister brushed aside the MoDem’s proposal to touch the 35 hours. Tuesday evening, she will send her wishes to the majority deputy. Story of a last call to order before the start of hostilities at the Bourbon Palace.
