While the motions of censure against the government are submitted to the vote of the National Assembly on Monday, a question torments the spirits: Emmanuel Macron, very discreet throughout the sequence of retreats, will he address the French?
Double or nothing: the two motions of censure against the government of Elisabeth Borne will be put to the vote on Monday in the National Assembly, and the pension reform could be definitively adopted, despite the anger in the country which does not weaken. For his part, President Emmanuel Macron indicated that he wanted the pension reform to go “to the end of its democratic journey”.
A next speech?
The Head of State has been very discreet in recent days despite a socially very tense weekend. The track of a speech by the President is seriously studied at the Elysée. It could take place on Tuesday or Wednesday but not this Monday, in order to mark a break with parliamentary time. That speaking out is unlikely to come later than the middle of this week.
Then, Emmanuel Macron’s diplomatic agenda will be loaded with a European Council at the end of the week and the arrival in France of the King of England next Monday.
Relaunch the quinquennium
“This speech will be an important step in relaunching the five-year term,” said a heavyweight from Macronie. According to this same source, it should provide a perspective on the reform agenda while deciding the question of a possible reshuffle.
