The anger against the pension reform does not fall. On the occasion of their parliamentary niche on June 8, the deputies of the Freedom, Independent, Overseas and Territories (Liot) group intend to address the subject and want to repeal the decline in the legal retirement age. It must be said that for 24 hours, these elected officials will have the possibility of submitting legislative proposals to the deputies on all the subjects of their choice. A stroke of luck for this small group which has been opposed since the beginning of the year to this reform desired by the government.
“A totally political approach”
Asked about the subject this Friday on Europe 1, the Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt judges “this incentive irresponsible. And it is a totally political approach.” “Nobody can believe, except those who carry the text, that the registration of a bill like this could call into question the reform”, he continues at the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko.
“First, if there is no majority in the Senate for this, and I do not think there is a majority in the Assembly. And above all, it is a text that offers no solution”, estimates the Minister of Labor, stressing that the pension deficit will reach nearly 15 billion euros in the years to come.
No increase in dues
“How do we finance this? (…) The Liot group must all those who want to vote for this bill tell us where we get the money” if we do not reform. “Are we reducing the budget for schools, armies, the security budget? Are we giving up on the ecological transition?” asks Olivier Dussopt. And there is no question of increasing contributions, warns the latter, since “this would mean that in 2030-2031, we would ask between 700 and 1,000 euros in additional contributions per year on average from all French people.”
“The reality is that with this type of initiative posed by opposition parliamentarians, it can only do one thing. It’s a disappointment machine because there are French women, French who, for one reason or another, are opposed to the reform and it is their right. And they can believe in this initiative. And in the end, they will be disappointed” because it will not be voted on, he concludes.
