At the end of the pension reform, the French will work longer to compensate for the budget deficit of pensions. But the government also intends to help them better live their working conditions and develop their careers, as stated by Stanislas Guerini, Minister of Transformation and Public Service, guest of Europe Matin this Wednesday.

Guest of Europe Matin this Wednesday, Stanislas Guerini defended the pension reform instigated by his government, insisting on his ambition to help the French to better live their careers. The Minister of Transformation and Public Service recognizes the duty to make the French work longer, to compensate for the budget deficit of pensions, but underlines the need to improve the working conditions of employees and civil servants.

“We have to go back to fairly simple arguments, we have to work longer, but we also have to adjust careers, take more interest in questions about hardship: how to arrange your working time, how you can adjust your workstation , how can you change jobs…” explains the minister.

500 million euros to improve working conditions

In addition, Stanislas Guerini announces the establishment of a budgetary fund for the public service, which will make it possible to “take an interest in working conditions, develop positions, be able to finance training.” This fund “for the prevention of wear and hardship” will amount to 100 million euros per year, or 1 half a billion euros over the second five-year term of Emmanuel Macron, according to his Minister of Transformation and public service.

Phased retirement in the public service is also at the center of the minister’s concerns. “A civil servant will be able to go part-time at the end of his career” while maintaining the same remuneration, which can in particular allow him to change jobs if he wishes, he concluded.
