Pepper spray – Several fights in Salzburg

Several fights broke out in Salzburg over the weekend. While seven people attacked each other in Saalfelden on Saturday, there was a mass brawl with more than ten people in the state capital on Sunday morning.

In a bar in Saalfelden (Pinzgau), a dispute between a Romanian bartender and two Romanian guests escalated. The bartender and a Hungarian employee tried to expel the two Romanians from the bar, but as a result two more Romanians came. There was a scuffle between a total of seven people, most of whom were drunk. While five of them were injured to an unspecified degree, the ruffians also used a fire extinguisher to damage the front door and the wall of the bar. The escalated dispute was ended by police officers. Two people had to be taken to the Tauern Clinic in Zell am See by the Red Cross because of their injuries. Those involved must expect a report. There was also a violent argument in downtown Salzburg on Sunday morning. After a verbal argument between some guests of a bar and a bouncer, the argument with more than ten people shifted outside. One of the bouncers used a pepper spray. A total of nine people were injured, five of them had to be treated in the LKH Salzburg. The people involved are Austrians, Serbs and Iraqis aged between 18 and 39 years. Further investigations and interrogations will follow. Pensioner injured in robbery Shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, a robbery occurred in the area where the streets Julius-Haagn-Straße and Elisabethstraße crossed. An unknown perpetrator snatched the handbag of a 74-year-old Austrian woman from behind and violently bumped into the pensioner. The victim fell and hit his head on the asphalt. She injured her left temple area and had to be taken to the regional hospital by the Red Cross. After outpatient treatment, the pensioner was released. The immediately initiated search measures have so far had negative results.
