Perpetrator drunk? – Burglars devastate the Salzburg House of Literature

Several thousand euros in damage and annoyance were left behind by unknown persons at the Salzburg Literature House over the weekend. In addition, the burglars are likely to have been drinking alcohol during the crime.

The literature house in Salzburg’s Strubergasse was broken into last weekend. In addition to broken locks, completely devastated premises and the theft of several electronic devices, including a laptop, the perpetrators caused trouble for the Literaturhaus team. Empty beer and spirits bottles and cans were also found at the scene. The burglars are likely to have been drinking during their crime and left behind those empty bottles and cans. “The Literaturhaus team cleaned up together on Sundays so that the house could be opened to the public again the next day,” says a broadcast. “What remains? Dismay, shaking of heads and anger at the destruction, the theft of some electronic devices and the unnecessary effort.” The estimated damage amounts to around 10,000 euros, according to the Literature House. After consultation with the police, a decision was made to publish the crime with a delay. As early as September 2022, a man wanted to break into the Literature House. But the burglar didn’t act very skillfully. The man tried to break a window. But he injured himself so badly that he fled, bleeding. Ironically, the trail of blood convicted him.
