Perpetrator maintained family – double murder in Graz: excessive demands as a motive

The first indications of the motive should now be available after the tragic bloody act in Graz: the 60-year-old may have committed the murder of his mother and brother and the subsequent suicide out of excessive demands.

The shock of the tragic bloody deed on Tuesday in Graz is still deep. As reported, a 60-year-old shot his 81-year-old mother and 58-year-old brother and then himself in an apartment building in the Leonhard district of Graz. He had previously announced the act to the police. A day later, there were growing indications that the perpetrator had acted out of excessive effort: the man had taken care of his bedridden mother and his sick brother. “It must have been too much for him,” adds police spokesman Fritz Grundnig. “We don’t know if he got help from somewhere else for the care, but there is currently nothing to suggest it.” It has also been confirmed that the 60-year-old committed the double murder and suicide with the revolver found. The investigation is almost complete, a final report is yet to be submitted.
