Perpetrators partly confessed – gang arrested after fire on Senftenberg ruins

About a month ago, the fire brigades in and around Krems an der Donau went on a large-scale operation to the Senftenberg castle ruins (Lower Austria). The ruin’s barn was robbed and then set on fire. Four young men have now confessed to the burglary.

Four young men (17 to 21) from the Tulln and Vienna districts are said to have eight burglaries, three damage to property and one arson within just one week with a total damage of 130,000 euros. The quartet wanted to avoid their arrest with a daring car ride. They drove through the Sieghartskirchen area at up to 150 km/h. After a 50-kilometer chase, the gang then fled into a wooded area. A little later she was found there and arrested. Burglary tools were found during a search of the getaway car. As the “Krone” learned, the arrested persons are also said to be responsible for the robbery in the barn of the idyllic Senftenberg castle ruins and even tried to get into the local car company that same night. Attentive neighbors noticed this, but those who were unknown at the time were able to flee. They are also accused of having shot a parked car with a crossbow, which they had stolen shortly before when they broke into a gas station, and severely damaged it. Confessed to the burglary , but not arson When questioned by the police officers, the suspects confessed to almost everything, including breaking into the shed by the castle ruins. The suspects vehemently deny the arson, by far the largest contributor to the total damage. Further surveys are therefore still ongoing. The 20-year-old from the Tulln district was taken to the prison, and the other three men were reported.
