On Thursday evening, a Rega helicopter circled over the Mythen area, looking for a person who apparently had an accident on the mountain. The Schwyz police confirmed to the «messenger of Urschweiz» that a report had been received about a person who had apparently fallen into the depths.
Clouds and wafts of mist made the search difficult. After 8 p.m. the rescuers find the missing person – for them, however, any help comes too late.
The Schwyz canton police wanted to provide information on the identity of the deceased and the course of the accident on Friday.
The mountain range Mythen includes the rock pyramids of the Grosse Mythen at 1898 meters above sea level and the Kleiner Mythen at 1811 with the Haggenspitz secondary peak at 1761. They are the landmark of the canton’s capital Schwyz.
Fatal accidents occur here again and again. Last year, a 73-year-old woman and a hiker († 69) had an accident on Mythen. (hah)
