The director Peter Bogdanovich died at the age of 82. The filmmaker, known for works like “The Last Performance”, “Paper Moon” or “Moving Targets”, died shortly after midnight on Thursday at his home in Los Angeles, as reported by “The Hollywood Reporter”, citing his daughter Antonia Bogdanovich.

“Our dearest Peter died today as a result of Parkinson’s disease,” the report said in a statement from relatives. “The Bogdanovich / Stratten family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.”

Cher and Streisand mourn

Many Hollywood stars mourn Bogdanovich on social media. Barbra Streisand (79), who in his film “Is’ was, Doc?” was to be seen explained on Twitter: “Peter always made me laugh! He will make you laugh up there too. May he rest in peace.”

Bogdanovich’s leading actress from the film “The Mask”, Cher, 75, tweeted: “I just heard that Peter died. I’m proud of the film (‘Mask’) we made together, and in the end I’m sure it must have been him too.” She added, “He’s made some very memorable films and discovered incredibly talented artists.” Directing stars like Francis Ford Coppola (82) and Martin Scorsese (79) also paid tribute to their deceased colleague.
