Peter Maffay used the pandemic to write new songs. He announces a new album for late summer on Facebook.

Fans of Peter Maffay (71) can look forward to late summer. The singer has announced a new album for September. On Friday, he shared the good news with his followers on Facebook. “Dear friends, after the canceled, postponed tour, a new album was created against the backdrop of the pandemic. ‘So Weit’ will be released on September 10,” said the 71-year-old happily.

In his announcement, he already gave his fans a first indication of what to expect on the new album. The new record is said to be “autobiographical and personal. Thoughtful, reduced and without a filter”. Maffay could not remember when there was a similar album from him. “So far” is the “quintessence of a lifelong journey – from its own origins to today,” he wrote on Facebook.

With the new record Peter Maffay can already look back on his 25th album. One of his most famous songs to this day is “You must go over seven bridges” from 1980.
