US actor Peter Robbins, the voice of Charlie Brown, has died. He was 65 years old.

US actor Peter Robbins (1956-2022), who played the cartoon character Charlie Brown in the classic “Peanuts” specials of the 1960s, has died. This was announced by his family “Fox 5 San Diego” on Tuesday. He was 65 years old.

Born on August 10, 1956 in Los Angeles, Robbins was a child actor and brought to life popular Peanuts character Charlie Brown from the age of 9. His first project as his voice was A Boy Named Charlie Brown, a 1963 television documentary about the life of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz (1922-2000).

In addition, Peter Robbins starred in television series in the 1960s. An appearance in a 1972 episode of “My Three Sons” was his last acting role before retiring from Hollywood.

Hard times after the spotlight

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Robbins has struggled with addiction after his stint in the spotlight and has been open about his mental health struggles, including suffering from bipolar disorder.

In 2019, shortly after being released from prison after being convicted of criminal threats in 2015, Robbins told Fox 5 that he felt much more humble, content and grateful since going through the experience.

At the time, he also told the broadcaster that he had a tattoo on his right arm showing Charlie Brown and Snoopy refreshed because the characters are still very important to him. “Charlie Brown fans are the biggest fans in the world,” he said at the time. “And I hope everyone is willing to give me a second chance.
