Peugeot reveals the futuristic interior of the next 3008

Peugeot’s 3008 compact SUV has been a great success for more than a decade and represents a strategic model for the Stellantis group brand. The new generation is becoming clearer and unveiling its interior before an official presentation in September 2023 for marketing from 2024.

We already know that the next Lion SUV will opt for a “fastback” type body, like the Renault Austral, Audi Q3 Fastback or the recent Peugeot 408, giving the whole a more sporty look.

A premium panoramic interior

Used for more than 10 years in its vehicles, Peugeot’s i-Cockpit is getting old, and despite the few alterations over the years, it no longer really stands up to ever more technological competition. In order to keep its SUV in the race, the Sochaux manufacturer opted for a major overhaul of its driving position and soberly baptized it Panoramic i-Cockpit.

The first element that stands out in this new cockpit is of course its 21-inch panoramic screen, which extends from the driver’s position to the central console. Its “invisible” attachment gives it a light look, giving the impression of floating in front of the dashboard. The effect is enhanced by LED lighting below the screen. The left part of the latter is devoted to driving information (guidance, speed, tachometer, etc.), while the right part is used to manage the air conditioning, navigation and infotainment.

Revised ergonomics

Beneath the panoramic screen, the center console contains 10 i-Toggles touch buttons for quick access to favorite settings. By moving the gearbox controls to the right of the Start/Stop button, Peugeot has optimized the space to accommodate the wireless smartphone charger.

The compact steering wheel has also been revised with a new design of the central island and the spokes to recall the levitation effect that reigns within the driving position. In addition, it is now equipped with “clickable touch” keys.

On the engine side, the automaker is definitely abandoning diesel in favor of gasoline and hybrid. This Fastback SUV should use the new 1.2 Puretech micro-hybrid 136 hp engine, while the 180 and 225 hp hybrid-rechargeable blocks will remain in the catalog. On the other hand, it seems that we can always dream of a PSE version with the powertrain of the 508 PSE.
