Journalist Philippe Bouvard announced on Sunday that he would end his career in January, on the occasion of his sixtieth anniversary on the air, “a world record”. The host will then celebrate his 95th birthday.
Philippe Bouvard has always hated the word “retirement”. At 94, he still works: he writes a weekly column for our colleagues at RTL. But the journalist warned this weekend that he would cut the microphone in January 2025 and that he would thus end his career in the media which began… 72 years ago!
60 seasons spent on the same radio station, a “world record”
It was in fact in January 1953, while he was working at Figaro, that he obtained his press card. Why stop in January? Because Philippe Bouvard will then celebrate his 60th birthday at RTL, he who started rue Bayard in January 1965, 12 years before founding The Big Heads. In a press release, the M6 group radio speaks of a “world record” referring to its 60 seasons spent in the same station.
A radio career started at Europe 1
Note that Philippe Bouvard began his radio career on Europe 1, since at the very beginning of the 1960s, he was part of the jury of the show The number 1s of tomorrowa show responsible for unearthing and presenting new talents.
