Philips Hue Ambilight is now also available for Samsung televisions without a sync box and external signal source. The new and significantly cheaper solution works with these TV models.

- A new Philips Hue Sync TV app now allows owners of certain Samsung TVs to directly synchronize Ambilight setups with the TV – without an external signal source and sync box.
- From January 5, 2023, the app will be available in the Samsung TV App Store at a price of 129.99 euros.
- The Philips Hue Sync TV app is compatible with Samsung QLED TVs built in 2022 (from model Q60)
The synchronization of Philips Hue Ambilight with TVs from Samsung has just become much more affordable: Even if the new Philips Hue Ambilight app is offered in the Samsung TV App Store at an initially outrageous price of 129.99 euros, the structure of a streaming Content-adapted light environment with compatible TV models is now not only cheaper, but also much easier.
Finally, with the sync app, costs of almost 230 euros for the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box are eliminated. The latter was previously essential to match the light color in the room to the streaming images from an external source. According to the manufacturer, the light still reacts to external sources such as a PlayStation 5 or the Blu-ray player.
Philips Hue Sync TV app saves money – and reduces cable clutter
In addition to some costs, this also eliminates some cable clutter – because retrofitting TV sets with Philips Hue Ambilight was previously only possible with the image signal being fed in by an upstream streaming platform or other external devices. With the app, content can now also be synchronized directly on the Smart TV with the lighting environment – this was previously only possible with Philips televisions, which are the only ones to have a built-in colored Ambilight system.

However, different LED strips, lights and light bulbs are still necessary for the sensible operation of an Ambilight environment, which are admittedly also quite expensive. However, these costs also apply without the app, which is compatible with Samsung TVs from 2022 and model Q60.
