Already available on Windows, the Hue Essentials application is also coming to Apple computers. This is not the official Philips Hue app, but one of the most popular among the user community.
Control everything from your keyboard and mouse
Hue Essentials was designed by a young student with a passion for home automation and connected lighting. The app is free and offers different functions to manage your lights in the house with choices of pre-recorded scenes and the possibility of designing your own automations.
A dashboard allows you to access all your products, to turn them on or off individually or even by room, to launch updates and to be able to adjust all the parameters. It is also possible to recreate groups and select favourites.

The Entertainment part is the heart of the application, because it is there that you will be able to choose the intensity of the lighting, its color, but also its mode of operation. You can synchronize the bulbs, lamps and ribbons there according to your music, but also to your computer microphone. And a gallery offers different effects to add, sometimes for a few euros. The app also exists in a Premium version at 5.99 euros to access all the options (effects, widgets, routines, advanced automation, etc.) and it works on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini or Mac Studio.

If you have many Philips Hue products and you are using Apple, this application is extremely practical and intuitive to configure everything (after installing the products using the Hue bridge or Bluetooth, depending on the bulbs). If you already had it on an iPhone or iPad, purchases carry over.
