Philips announces the launch of an ultra-short throw projector named Screeneo U4. A product already available for pre-orders, not on the brand’s website, but on Indiegogo in crowdfunding.
Philips continues its participation in the craze for ultra-short throw projectors with the arrival of its Screeneo U4, a logical follow-up to the Screeneo U3. Pre-orders are already open, but not on the Philips site. For the second time, the manufacturer is launching a video projector on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo after having succeeded with the PicoPix Max.
Up to 80 inches diagonal projection
Like any ultra-short throw projector, the Screeneo U4 is positioned close to the wall. In his case, when installed 19.5 cm from the wall, it allows to obtain an image with a diagonal of 60 inches. A diagonal that can increase to 80 inches when placed 30.5 cm from the wall. It can be controlled with a supplied remote control.
Still on the installation, Philips announces that ” a few seconds are enough“. Focusing is quick and the projector is equipped with keystone correction and 4-angle correction, “ even if the projector is not perfectly in front of the wall“.
HDR10 and 1080p for the Philips Screeneo U4
This Philips ultra-short-throw projector meets the HDTV Rec.709 standard, but also supports HDR10 thanks to its AMlogic T792 processor. On the definition side, we are entitled to 1080p, for an announced lifespan of up to 30,000 hours.
On the connection, there are two HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB-A port and a 3.5 mm jack. The USB-A port can be used to power a Chromecast or an Amazon Fire TV Stick, for example.
Philips also notes that its Screeneo U4 has two 15 W speakers that promise 2.1 surround sound. But its ultra-short-throw projector also has dual Bluetooth, which allows you to connect to two devices simultaneously, to link it to two other speakers for example.
Price and availability of the Philips Screeneo U4
This Screeneo U4 is only available on Indiegogo for pre-order at 599 euros. You never know, but you can buy two for 1,198 euros, which will save you… nothing. Be careful though, these are pre-orders and stocks are therefore limited. Pre-orders which will end within a month and have already convinced more than 1,500 customers for a total of 920,000 euros collected at the time of writing these lines.
