Philips WelcomeEye Wireless: a wireless videophone, but with monitor and remote control

The WelcomeEye range from Philips is enriched with a new videophone with the Wireless reference. As its name suggests, this model relies on a wireless installation, like a certain WelcomeEye Link before it. But while the latter consisted of a simple door station, the WelcomeEye Wireless has a monitor that brings it closer to the Connect models, with a wired connection. In short, he intends to bring together the best of both worlds.

1080p images and portal controls

The WelcomeEye Wireless therefore consists of two elements: a door station and a monitor. The first, which is installed outdoors and also benefits from protection against the rain (IP44), incorporates a 5000 mAh battery supposed to allow it to operate for up to eight months at the rate of a call per day, as well as a 1080p camera to film visitors when they ring the bell. Infrared vision is of course provided for the night, and the images are sent to the monitor and its 7-inch 1080p screen. It thus makes it possible to respond directly from home, but can also save these images on a microSD card or even send them to a smartphone thanks to wifi and Bluetooth connections. Microphones and loudspeakers are of course also provided for the sound.

The turntable and the monitor rely on a long-range wireless protocol to communicate. Philips evokes up to 350 meters in an open field, but note all the same that at least one wall should be an obstacle. Although it works wirelessly, the plate still includes connectors for a striker or a gate motor, the opening of which can thus be controlled from the monitor or the mobile application. Finally, note that the monitor must be properly connected to the current to operate.

The Philips WelcomeEye Wireless videophone is available now at the recommended retail price of €449.90.
