Pierre Arditi cataloged? “I never put all my eggs in one basket”

In the France 2 series, What Pauline does not tell you, to follow from Wednesday March 9 at 9:10 p.m., the actor plays Bernard Borel, a seemingly reassuring patriarch who will gradually show disturbing contours.

How do you view the man you play on screen?

PIERRE ARDITI: He is fearsome. He advances masked but then reveals himself in all his ferocity. He is ready to do anything to win the game, he is a predator, a kind of killer. I hope to be as far away from him as possible. There, I can afford the luxury of being with impunity what I will never be…

You have recently been entrusted with some detestable characters. Is this type of score fun to play?

I never wanted to camp the heroes or in the opposite direction and didn’t have to fight for it. Because what interests me in the roles that I am offered are the flaws. It marries the contours of our time which seems to me quite troubled. Today, fiction fortunately responds better to the complexity that we experience. It is less binary than before.

With the detective series The Blood of the Vine, you were one of the first well-established film personalities to play a recurring role on television. Are you proud to have paved the way?

There were others before me, but I really enjoyed immersing myself in this universe that I didn’t know well and portraying this half-bear, half-vigilante being. The danger, however, is to specialize in a single type of exercise. I never put all my eggs in one basket. My friend Veronique Genest has a lot of talent but the public has completely assimilated her to Julie Lescaut.

Sabine Azéma says of you that you are an actor who likes the unexpected. Do you subscribe to this analysis?

Completely. We live this profession for the unexpected otherwise what is the interest? I don’t hoard my career like a savings account. All the fun is there. And I’m lucky to still be wanted and it’s time for projects.

You have declared to be poorly tolerated the mix of genres between politics and spectacle. How do you perceive the presidential campaign?

The least we can say is that it is strange. What worries me are all these extremes coming to the fore and parties disappearing. Everything that makes the left falls into oblivion… It disturbs me and saddens me a lot.
