This Monday, the Paris Court of Appeal decided to place Pierre Palmade in pre-trial detention, thus following the requisitions initially made by the prosecution. Still hospitalized, 48 hours after his stroke, the actor is suspended from the decision of the doctors who will give the green light to a possible exit from care.
The incredible Pierre Palmade affair has not yet delivered all its twists and turns. Following the serious road accident he caused on February 10 in Seine-et-Marne and during which he was under the influence of narcotics, the actor had been placed under house arrest in a service of addictology. But this Monday, the Paris Court of Appeal decided to place the comedian in pre-trial detention, in accordance with what the prosecution had initially requested. Now two scenarios are possible for the 54-year-old artist and will depend mainly on his state of health.
But in the immediate future, his situation will not really change. Pierre Palmade remains hospitalized, 48 hours after suffering a stroke, and has still not been transferred to Fresnes prison in Val-de-Marne, on which he will now depend. His state of health does not allow it, as confirmed this afternoon by the public prosecutor of Melun. It was therefore from his hospital bed that this detention took effect and then notified to the person concerned, as well as his imprisonment. A policeman also being posted in front of his door, it is indeed the detention regime that applies, but in the hospital.
An appeal in cassation is also possible
And now, it is the doctors who have the future of the comedian in their hands because they are the ones who will give the green light to a possible exit from care. Pierre Palmade could then go into ordinary detention with the possibility of treatment or be placed in a specialized establishment.
The comedian’s lawyer can also challenge the decision rendered on Monday morning via an appeal in cassation for which the very short deadline is only five days. He may also issue requests for release in the coming weeks. For his client, the objective is to be placed under house arrest again under an electronic bracelet in a Parisian hospital, as has been the case until now.
