He answered this question during an interview for The Parisian.
The public had the opportunity to hear it several times in the star Academy. Even before his arrival at the castle of Dammarie-les-Lys, Pierre Garnier could boast of having his own composition. A title that he had performed to his classmates. He even sang it in front of Dadju during his visit to the castle or in front of his teachers for his last evaluation. So, Those we were became a hit even before its release. As proof, when Maître Gims’ brother invited him to sing it live on TF1 during the final, even though it was not planned, the public sang the chorus with him. A magical moment for everyone on set.
The origin of What we were revealed
“I wasn’t aware of it at all. It was Dadju who took this initiative and it was a huge gift that he gave me. At first I didn’t really understand and then it was… Wow“, he confided to the Parisian, the day after his victory. Héléna’s accomplice then revealed how this hit was born, “a few weeks before Star Ac’” : “JI was with two friends and we were trying to write a song without succeeding. We said to ourselves: ‘What binds us the most?’ And we thought about romantic relationships that don’t end very well. We all put in our experiences and, in an hour, it was over.“
It is therefore not alone that Pierre Garnier composed this song. However, it should appear in his album. “In any case, this will be my first title“, he assured. For the rest, his opus will include titles in French, on guitar. “Afterwards, I like a lot of different styles, so I’m going to try to condense everything to find my own. I want an album that resembles me“, he concluded. There is no doubt that he will be successful.
