This trend is made for those who want full comfort this winter. Because not only our jackets are puffy and padded this season! Even the loyal companions under the arm are properly padded and ready by your side for the cold months.

While the first snowflakes will soon appear on our weather apps, we should get ready for winter as soon as possible. It starts with a moisture-resistant winter jacket, a pair of thick boots should soon be in our wardrobe, and the choice of the handbag that now fits must be made. Because while sensitive leather and fur bags are better off taking a break over the mud months, an alternative has to be found. We show which bag trend is currently totally hip and also suitable for the weather.

The pillow on the catwalk

Morning grouch, beware: This it-piece may look like a cozy pillow, but it is not intended to be used as a power nibble. But on the contrary! The temptingly padded bag actually adapts elements from the bedroom and living room to the world of fashion! Whether in a quilt look or with down quilting, in snow-white or pastel tones, the pillow bag is a real eye-catcher this winter.

The cozy trend could already be seen on the catwalks of the Paris-based fashion label Maison Margiela in 2018 and 2019. Phoebe Philo, former creative director of Celine, demonstrated the pillow bag on the catwalk back in 2016. Brands like Arket, Weekday, COS and, above all, the Danish label Mads Norgaard have launched similar models.

The quilted blanket ran up and down the catwalk more and more often and made its direct jump into street style from there. No wonder, after all, this bag not only exudes fun and charisma, but also stands out from all other bag trends. And that’s exactly what our street-style queens love more than anything.

It is difficult to say which pillow bag from which brand is the coolest, because every fashion house has an individual signature here. The popular “Glam” model by Maison Margiela, the “Shoulder Pouch” by Bottega Veneta and the newly established “Chanel 19” are among the quilted bags.

If they all have one thing in common, it’s the quilting technique. Most of the trendy pillow bags are just like we like our pillows: nice and big. However, there are now also smaller variants to dare to approach the trend. So there is something cuddly for everyone! While Gucci went one step further at Milan Fashion Week 2019 and showed a monogram pillow packaged as a backpack, here we have the solution for those for whom this trend lacks structure.

A little of this, a little of this

Do you feel like joining the bag trend? But for you the cuddly companions have too little structure and shape? Don’t worry, this bag offers the best of both worlds! Because a heavy laptop or a large calendar can throw such a shapeless bag quite off balance. Then little remains of the fluffy shape of the pillow bag. Brands like Stand Studio therefore offer a mix of the playful pillow bag and a structured bag.
