The first trailer for the live-action adaptation of Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks as Geppetto, is here. In late summer, the film will come to Disney+ instead of the cinema. The first pictures are promising.
- The first trailer for “Pinocchio” promises a colorful feast for the eyes.
- The live-action adaptation is coming straight to Disney+ in late summer.
- Tom Hanks plays Geppetto.
Pinocchio comes out on Disney+ Day, September 8, 2022. The remake starring Tom Hanks as the doll carver Geppetto was created by “Back to the Future” director Robert Zemeckis. In addition to Hollywood veteran Hanks, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Inception”) is also present as a speaker. Now a first trailer has appeared.
“Pinocchio” 2022 close to the cartoon template from 1940
The amazing thing about the trailer is how true the new edition is to the original. For example, Pinocchio’s cricket friend or conscience Jiminy looks like a one-to-one computer animation of the template.
The doll is rare
Tom Hanks’ disguise is also very faithful to the original, although he always looks a little strange in costumed roles. But that may also be due to his Everyman image. Only the doll itself makes itself quite rare in the clip. You can never see it completely. In the first (still) pictures that Disney showed in March, the detailed implementation of the main character could already be admired.
Real film trend continues
But even with “Pinocchio” Disney continues to rely on the card “live-action adaptation of popular classics”. The past decade has been peppered with computer-supported live-action films such as “The Jungle Book”, “The Lion King” and “Beauty and the Beast”.
In contrast to its predecessors, “Pinocchio” will not be shown in cinemas, but will start exclusively on Disney + on September 8th.
