Placebo are back: the British alternative rock band released a new single after five years.

Placebo are making their comeback: On Friday (September 17th) the alternative rock band from London will release their first single in five years. The new song is titled “Beautiful James” and is intended to convey an energetic message: Non-heteronormative relationships should be normalized and celebrated in the track.

“If the song serves to irritate the philistines and uptight people, then that’s fine with me,” explains singer Brian Molko (48). “But it remains imperative for me that every listener discovers their own personal story in it – I really don’t want to tell you what to feel.”

Eighth studio album announced

More new music will follow soon. Placebo released their last studio album in 2013 with “Loud Like Love”. The eighth long player has already been completed this year. It is not yet known when the new album will be released.

The band, which was founded in 1994, now consists only of Brian Molko and bassist Stefan Olsdal (47). Her greatest songs include “Every You Every Me” (1998), “The Bitter End” (2003) and “Without You I’m Nothing” (1998).
