SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment) announces today that it has acquired Audeze.

It is not a development studio, but rather an expert in audio technology for, among other things, video games.

Sony (PlayStation) offers Audeze

While she looks with a dim view of the takeover of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, PlayStation has just acquired Audeze, a company based in Santa Ana, California. The brand notably develops headphones for the professional audio market and audiophiles, without forgetting of course the video game sector.

Audeze notably offers headphones that are based on patented technologies, but also planar magnetic speakers, like on the Penrose X, which are very different from traditional dynamic headphones. The technology also had its letters of nobility in the 70s.

Planar Magnetic is a hybrid technology, a combination of the two worlds (dynamic and electrostatic), in order to get the best out of it.

Towards a superior audio experience on PS5

Audeze is a leading brand in headsets, and this acquisition underscores the importance Sony Interactive places on innovation and delivering the best audio experience to PlayStation gamers. said Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President and Platform Experience at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Audeze’s expertise will obviously be integrated into the entire PlayStation ecosystem. Sony will enable the brand to continue to provide the best headphones for recording professionals, audiophiles and gamers.

Obviously, on the side of Audeze, we already promise to want to wear “ take the PlayStation audio experience to the next level “. Remember that Sony has just formalized a new Pulse Elite wireless headset and Pulse Explorer wireless headphones, which will work (among other things) with the PlayStation Portal. Both are also equipped with planar magnetic pilots. Well !
