The website iFixit recently shared his teardown of the new iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The opportunity to remember that you should not buy an iPhone 14 in the United States if you want to use your trusty SIM card.

iFixit takes care of the iPhone 14 Pro Max case

It’s been a few days now since the giant Apple launched its new iPhone 14. Exit the mini model, make way for a new new Plus model, even if it’s the Pro and Pro Max models that offer real new features, with a new photo section and of course the Dynamic Island function.

Specialized in the disassembly and repair of our favorite high-tech products, iFixit released their video regarding the new iPhone 14 Pro Max. The opportunity to discover the bowels of the beast, but also to remember that it is not wise to import an iPhone 14 from the United States.

US iPhone 14 adopts eSIM

Indeed, the four iPhones of the new iPhone 14 range are offered in the USA in eSIM mode. Also, the latter do not have a dedicated slot to accommodate a SIM card, and operate only via this new fully dematerialized technology.

When disassembling the iPhone 14 Pro Max, iFixit was thus able to discover that Apple does not use the internal space freed up by the removal of the tray for another component or an additional functionality, but is content to fill this same space with a plastic wedge. It is therefore impossible to accommodate any physical SIM card.

Also, those who hoped to be able to order an iPhone 14 in the United States to take advantage of a lower price and use their SIM card will have to change their minds.

Of course, in the future, it is obvious that other markets will also switch to 100% eSIM iPhones.
