Pregnancy is a special and beautiful time – but there is one thing some pregnant women would like to do without: stretch marks. They often develop on the abdomen, chest, buttocks and legs. Because the connective tissue is heavily stressed in a short period of time by the stretching of the skin, so that it can tear in weak areas as a result. These stretch marks initially shimmer reddish to bluish before they fade over time. Sometimes pregnant women also experience itching in the affected areas. Can stretch marks be prevented?

Why do stretch marks appear?

Not every pregnant woman gets stretch marks, but they are not unusual either. Some women do not discover a single stretch mark, while others experience them in the middle of pregnancy. Why? Above all, the Predisposition of the connective tissue a crucial role – and that cannot be changed.

Those who have a rather weak connective tissue tend to have these stripes. They are usually harmless, but stretch marks are an aesthetic problem for some women. There is no magic bullet against it, but some measures can help to keep the skin elastic in advance. The plucking massage is probably the best known of them – and very easy to perform.

This is how the plucking massage works

The plucking massage is intended to stimulate blood circulation in the skin and thus promote elasticity. With an oil, the massage becomes very pleasant for many – and this is how you proceed:

  1. Rub some of the oil in your hands and then spread it over your stomach.
  2. Start on the side of your stomach by gripping a small roll of skin with your thumb and forefinger and …
  3. … pull this away upwards. Move on to the next area of ​​skin.
  4. Work your way up from the side towards your belly button.

In order not to irritate the uterus, leave the pubic area outside of the plucking massage. Usually, if you have an uncomplicated pregnancy, you can use the massage every day until about three weeks before giving birth. To be sure if there is anything against it, the best thing to do is talk to your gynecologist.
