Plus belle la vie: audiences for the series at their lowest since its launch, should we really be worried?

If “Plus belle la vie, even plus belle” achieved audience records when it was launched, the series is now experiencing a decline. Should we be worried about the future of the soap opera on TF1?

After a little over a year of absence, Plus belle la vie made its comeback on television on Monday January 8 on TF1. And from its launch, the oldest soap opera on French television managed to find its audience since nearly 2.72 million viewers gathered in front of their screens in the first week, or 27.8% of the public aged four. years and over (4+) and 41.0% of women responsible for purchasing aged under 50 (FRDA-50).

Exceptional figures well above the average for the time slot, which generally oscillates between 1.99 and 2.05 million viewers depending on the figures for 2023. Unfortunately, it seems that this trend has not been confirmed over time.

Declining audiences

Since its launch, audiences for Plus belle la vie, even plus belle have continued to decline. This Tuesday, January 23, they even fell below the threshold of 2 million viewers.

Episode 12 only attracted 1.89 million viewers according to Médiamétrie, or 22.4% of the public aged four and over (4+) and 37.5% of the FRDA-50. Faced with these figures, only one question remains, should we be worried about the future of Plus belle la vie, even plus belle on TF1?

More beautiful life in danger?

If the audiences for Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle are indeed in decline, this absolutely does not mean that the future of the series is in the hot seat.

Since its launch, the series has achieved very good scores among women responsible for purchasing aged under 50, who are the preferred target for advertisers. For comparison, the show “It starts today”, broadcast in the same time slot, only accounts for 7.3% of the FRDA-50.

Another data to take into account, Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle achieves part of its audiences in replay on the TF1+ platform which was launched the same day as the series. Although the channel has not communicated precise figures, the daily soap opera has, since its launch, been in first place among the most watched programs, ahead of Star Academy, Here Everything Begins and Tomorrow Belongs to Us.

It is therefore possible that, as TF1 had anticipated, Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle will be widely viewed on TF1+. So don’t panic for fans of the series, Thomas, Barbara, Ariane and the others are not ready to disappear from your television screens.

Find More beautiful life, even more beautiful from Monday to Friday at 1:40 p.m. on TF1. The episodes are available in preview on the TF1+ platform.
