How do you get a perfect poached egg?

Mirror, soft, hard… The egg can be cooked in different ways and they all have a different flavor. This is the particularity of this product, its texture varies depending on its cooking. While some are easier than others to obtain, they all have a small detail that should not be overlooked. The poached egg is the perfect illustration of this. To succeed, you must respect two or three rules. This is what cooking enthusiast Leo.bergine explains to us in a video posted on his TikTok account.

The first thing to do is to make sure you have fresh eggs, otherwise the result will not be perfect. If they are not fresh enough, this will show when cooking, the yolk will not be coated and the white will be waterlogged. Once you have your ultra-fresh eggs, crack each one into a separate small container. Then equip yourself with a large salad bowl into which you will pour two parts water for one part vinegar. Here, the cook mixed apple cider vinegar and white vinegar, but make do with what you have on hand. This step will create a cocoon around the yolk. Then, very delicately place your eggs there and let sit for 30 minutes. Once the time has elapsed, heat a pan of water and when the water is barely simmering, place your eggs which have soaked in the water and vinegar mixture. Let it cook for 2 minutes 30 and voilà, you have a perfect poached egg!

Can you store a poached egg?

If you’ve invited friends or family over for a Sunday lunch brunch, it might be helpful to do some preparation in advance so you don’t end up overwhelmed when the shot goes off. Avocado toasts, for example, can easily be prepared one to two hours before your guests arrive. To keep the avocado its green color, simply sprinkle it with fresh lemon juice. As for the most delicious part of this dish, the poached egg, you can also make that in advance. Once you have cooked your eggs, you can store them in a iced glass of water. Of course, you can’t leave them for too long, it’s a very temporary solution that will save you from spending your brunch behind the stove.
