Poco F5 vs. Poco F5 Pro: This is how the Xiaomi phones differ

MOBILE PHONE COMPARISON

With the Poco F5 and F5 Pro, the Xiaomi subsidiary has presented two new mid-range cell phones. Where are the differences? Our comparison clears things up.

Poco is a subsidiary of Xiaomi and focuses more on smartphones in the lower and middle price segment. Nevertheless, the cheaper models also have a lot to offer and are often very inexpensive.

The latest cell phones include the devices of the F5 series, which were officially presented in May 2023. As the name already suggests, the Poco F5 is a bit better equipped in some areas, which of course also increases the price a bit. You can find out which mobile phone suits you better in this comparison.

screen

The F5 Pro’s display is one of the manufacturer’s most innovative. It is a so-called Flow AMOLED, which offers more plasticity thanks to a different substrate material. This makes the display lighter, more robust and takes up less space. The size is 6.67 inches and the resolution is 1,440 x 3,200 pixels. The maximum refresh rate is 120 Hertz.

The normal F5 is equipped with a conventional OLED panel, which offers a resolution of 1080×2400. The size and refresh rate, however, are identical. Another small downside is the pixel density of 395ppi, as the Pro gets 526ppi here.

Performance

The F5 Pro also has an advantage over the conventional variant in terms of performance. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is installed here, which provides solid performance with a total of eight computing cores. The F5 comes with the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which is a stripped down version of the Pro chipset. Nevertheless, the processor should perform well and keep you satisfied for the next few years. Both chips are supported by 8 or 12 gigabytes of RAM.

Even if the difference in the graphics unit is not huge, it should still be mentioned that the Pro model has a slight advantage here as well. The Adreno 730 GPU is installed there, while the normal version has to be satisfied with an Adreno 725.

camera

When it comes to the camera, both smartphones have a similar setup, but here again there are small advantages for the Pro. The main camera is identical in each case and has a resolution of 64 megapixels. In addition, both have a wide-angle lens with 8 megapixels and a macro camera with 2 megapixels. However, these are slightly better on the F5 Pro, which also noticeably increases the quality of the photos and videos.

battery pack

Both models are also reasonably equipped in terms of battery and should easily get you through the day. The Poco F5 has a maximum capacity of 5,000 mAh and the F5 Pro ups the ante with 5,160 mAh. Both smartphones can be charged with a maximum of 67 watts by cable, whereby the Pro can also be charged wirelessly with 30 watts.

Unlike the Poco M5 and Poco M5s in spring, both cell phones come with a power supply unit.

Other differences

Another difference that could be crucial for some is the jack connection on the normal Poco F5. This allows you to easily use your wired headphones with your new smartphone.

The Poco F5 Pro appears without a jack socket, but offers an IP53 certification and is therefore protected against splash and spray water.

Prices and Availability

The price for the Poco F5 starts at 429.90 euros, the F5 Pro starts at 629.90 euros. Until March 16, you can get both cell phones at favorable early bird prices from Xiaomi. When it comes to colors, you can choose between black and white.

network world means

Ultimately, both smartphones are models with a good price-performance ratio. Mobile phones have a lot to offer, especially for devices in the middle price segment, and they have all the important and essential functions for everyday life.

If things like a better resolution, a little more performance or the camera are not particularly important to you, the normal F5 is also completely sufficient. If you want to dig a little deeper into your pocket, it is also worth buying the F5 Pro.
