Pokemon Legends: Arceus | 5 gameplay elements

Game Freak reveals a little more about Pokémon Legends: Arceus through new gameplay elements just weeks away from a worldwide release on Nintendo Switch.

Arceus will therefore be the first game of the license to fully dive into the action RPG aspect with open world elements where players will be able to interact with Pokémon like never before.

While the game is scheduled for release on January 28, Game Freak has released a video of nearly 13 minutes of gameplay. What to discover a little more about the Hisui region but also to answer the questions of players, new and old, about this brand new Pokémon game.

In the video in question, we discover several options chosen by Game Freak to encourage exploration and interactions with Pokémon. Enough to give us a slightly less vague overview of what this Pokémon Legends: Arceus will contain and ask you.

Several iconic Pokémon mechanics seem to have been reworked

Harvest and accumulate resources

The Pokémon crafting system will indeed be present in this feudal era of Hisui which will later become the Sinnoh that we know. In Legendes Arceus, trainers will have to drill, harvest and accumulate many resources in order to craft Poké Balls as well as other useful objects.

Players will be able to take advantage of a workbench to carry out these crafts in their camp by using medicinal plants, Noigrumes and different ores accumulated during their wanderings to make potions or Balls of different qualities.

How Poké Balls Work in Battle

Battling a wild Pokemon until it’s weakened enough to capture it is no longer the only capture method. Poké Balls can be thrown at an unsuspecting Pokémon but if you miss your attempt then it will spot you and you will have to fight against it.

Distract and surprise a Pokémon and then throw a Ball at it outside of combat. Then, in case of failure, throwing one of your Pokémon into battle to initiate the confrontation, should be your daily lot to develop your collection of Pokémon.

Catching and battling wild Pokémon should take on a whole new dimension.

Start an encounter with a Pokémon

As a self-respecting good adventure, trainers will have the opportunity to meet new Pokémon throughout their journey and for this Game Freak wants each of these discoveries to be different. Some Pokémon will react differently to a trainer’s approach, while others will behave more aggressively or attentively than others.

Throwing a Poké Ball at a wild Pokémon can ensure an extra turn in battles. In addition, thanks to the Quick or Powerful attacks, this should add a significant grain of strategy to approach your fights against other Pokémon.

Research levels

Different types of Pokémon will offer independent levels of research depending on the number of tasks performed for it, such as observing certain situations or the number of its congeners you have been able to catch.

Raising your Wanted Level will increase your rank in the Galaxy Expedition Team as well as new areas to explore.

You will be able to catch wild Pokémon and gain experience, without going into battle.

Villagers’ requests to Hisui

Hisui villagers will have tons of things to ask of you in exchange for rewards and items. Enough to encourage trainers to catch as many different Pokémon as possible and to explore the surrounding regions while progressing in the main story.

These quests will apparently range from simply catching a specific Pokémon to going head-to-head against powerful Pokémon.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be released on January 28, and we’re still waiting for more information about Hisui by the time it arrives on the Nintendo Switch.
