Polar bears take a deep breath – redeeming victory after catching up

Zeller Eisbären win after four defeats in a row against Val Gardena 5: 4 after extra time. Swede Fredrik Widen became the match winner.

After the last four defeats in a row, Zeller went off the ice as the winner in the Alps Hockey League against Val Gardena – and how! Thanks to Rajala (double pack), who had remained rather pale so far, the polar bears were leading 2-1 after 20 minutes. The break-in followed again in the middle section. In the middle of the final third, the Ekrt crew were already 2: 4 behind, Sinegubovs made the connection, then matchwinner Widen turned up. The Swede equalized 22 seconds before the end. In the overtime the extra: Widen drove alone to Val Gardena’s goalie Furlong, netted and gave his team the redeeming victory. “We left out the hard things and did the easy things right. It is an important victory for the morale of the whole team, ”said Eisbär Schützenhofer after the important success. After a short Christmas break, Zell will continue on December 28th at home against Sterzing.
