Tesla does not have a monopoly on electric roadster concepts: Polestar is showing us today that when it comes to design, they too are at the highest level. A press release has just unveiled the Polestar O2 (as the symbol of oxygen), which brings a breath of fresh air into a world that is of course not made just for electric SUVs.

Who said electric cars couldn’t be fun?

The head of design at Polestar announces the color with his roadster concept: “The Polestar O2 is our vision of a new era for sports cars. By combining the joy of a convertible and the purity of electromobility, this opens up a new combination of emotions in a car“. Seeing the few shots shared by the manufacturer, we can only agree.

There is currently no data sheet or autonomy announced, but only this candy for the eyes and some details on the design method. We learn in particular that the body is made of a new ultra-light aluminum alloy, which will undoubtedly allow performance worthy of supercars.

In addition to this innovative bodywork, Polestar insists on the eco-responsible side of the materials, with an interior composed solely of recycled polyester for foams, adhesives and fabrics.

Finally, the highlight of the show, a drone will be provided with the Polestar O2, allowing the owner to immortalize passages on iconic roads. The drone operates completely autonomously and hides behind the second row seats, so as not to clutter up what will undoubtedly be limited space on board.

It can take off while the vehicle is moving, and will follow the car up to 90 km/h. The manufacturer announces that the videos can be edited and shared from the central 15-inch screen, which will undoubtedly carry a lot of computing power to allow this kind of activity.

Do not hesitate to browse the different shots of the gallery above, it is a real treat for the mirette. Let’s hope that the future production version — if there is one — doesn’t stray too far from it.
