Police led a wild chase for a drunk with a blood alcohol content of 1.28

Cyclists at risk
The accused continued his journey on the B140 and sped off the main road onto the narrow, confusing Steyrtal cycle path at 125 km/h. In doing so, he significantly endangered oncoming cyclists. After about 1.5 kilometers, the lead foot had an accident and the police were able to catch up with the car. When the officers arrived, the driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran. He fled over the B140 and over the steep embankment through the forest. After a few 100 meters he was arrested by the two police officers.

The car was not registered for traffic
During the investigation it was determined that the car, an Opel, was not registered for use. The license plates were stolen during the night. The accused is also suspected of having committed fuel fraud in Vienna using other suppressed license plates. An alcohol test for the 27-year-old was positive: 1.28 per mille. After consultation with the Steyr public prosecutor’s office, the accused is taken to the prison.
