Politics unofficially – ex-municipal councilor takes over Hagenauer job

The successor for the outgoing city councilor of the Social Democrats seems to have been found. A Chamber of Labor lawyer jumps in.

The SPÖ politician Anja Hagenauer has campaigned for the social agendas of the city of Salzburg for years and has often fought against windmills. Under the former red long-term mayor Heinz Schaden, she has acted as city councilor for the past few years under city boss Harald Preuner and SPÖ boss Bernhard Auinger. Of course, her resignation at the beginning of July for health reasons came as a surprise. Also the proposal of the party presidency for her successor. According to initial information, the Chamber of Labor lawyer Michaela Fischer is to become the new councilor for social affairs. In 2018 Fischer made the leap to the municipal council of the city of Salzburg. Only a year later, however, she lost her seat again after the municipal council election. At the Salzburger AK, the lawyer is responsible for health policy and social policy, so she fits in perfectly with the social department, has insight and knows the background. The social democrat has also been active in the union for a long time. The future city councilwoman will not have much time to get used to it. Elections are due again next spring. The situation is strongly reminiscent of the green state vice president Martina Berthold, who took over the state’s social department shortly before the election. In the past few days, a wide variety of names have been mentioned for the post – just not male ones. For example, local councilor Nicole Solarz was considered a hot candidate. And SALK works councilor Sabine Gabath was also traded as a city councilor.
