Pollution: differentiated traffic on Saturday in Paris and within the perimeter of the A86

Only vehicles with a Crit’Air sticker 0, 1 and 2 will be allowed to drive on Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to midnight in Paris, the small and medium suburbs.

The prefect of police of Paris Didier Lallemant announced on Friday March 25 the establishment of differentiated traffic on Saturday due to an episode of particle pollution in Ile-de-France.

This is the first time in a year that differentiated traffic has been activated due to pollution. Only vehicles with a Crit’Air sticker 0, 1 and 2 will be allowed to travel on Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to midnight in Paris, the small and medium suburbs (within the perimeter delimited by the A86) and this until the end of the pollution episode. “Other vehicles will not be able to drive“, added the police headquarters (PP) in a press release. In addition to this differentiated traffic, reductions in the maximum authorized speed have been introduced: 110 km/h on motorways normally limited to 130 km/h; 90 km/h on portions of motorways or expressways normally limited to 110 km/h and 70 km/h on portions of motorways and expressways normally limited to 90 km/h as well as on national and departmental roads normally limited to 80 km/h or 90 km/h.

It is also forbidden to use an individual wood-burning heater for additional or decorative purposes. Measures are also planned for the agricultural sector (ban on the burning of agricultural by-products, postponement of the cleaning of silos, postponement of the spreading of mineral and organic fertilizers, etc.). For the day of Saturday, underlines the PP, “Airparif, association for monitoring air quality in Ile-de-France, predicts a concentration of PM10 particles of between 45 and 55 µg/m³, i.e. a probable exceedance of the information-recommendation threshold set at 50 µg/ m³, for the third consecutive day“. “This episode of pollution is a persistent episode that could last several more days. This pollution comes from several sources (in particular wood heating, road traffic and agriculture) and is combined with anticyclonic conditions unfavorable to the dispersion of pollutants.“, according to the PP.
